Anyone who has experienced the benefits of yoga first-hand will not want to miss this yoga for the brain. Just as our bodies become more integrated and balanced through various forms of yoga, so can our brains. And there is a very specific form of yoga for exactly that: Superbrain Yoga. An ancient technique that has been standardized and studied by the founder of Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga to help us practice the technique in a safe and effective way.

The Indian Rishis developed a powerful yoga technique to increase people’s intelligence, based on the principle of ear acupuncture. Over time, the proper practice has been distorted and lost, resulting in many variations of the technique being used. Performing the technique incorrectly has a detrimental effect on the practitioner’s brain and health. Fortunately, Grand Master Choa Kok Sui – founder of Pranic Healing and Arthatic Yoga -, researched the correct technique and recorded it in writing and teachings.

In his many experiments, he discovered the most effective and safe way of performing Superbrain Yoga. In his book he describes precisely what to do and what not to. Research has shown that practicing this form of yoga has many benefits. Five of these benefits are:

Better cooperating brain hemispheres

Those who practice yoga regularly know that it leads to greater balance. Your internal organs are “massaged” through various postures called asanas and different breathing exercises. Your arms, legs, back, neck, abdomen and chest are moved, and more space is created, literally and figuratively. But there is little focus on our large organ in the skull, the brain. Well in the sense of meditation of course and calming the “monkey mind,” but not so much a yoga technique that specifically targets the brain cells. Superbrain yoga does. It specifically activates the brain cells and balances both hemispheres, making them work better together.

More focus and concentration

By balancing the brain, children, adults and the elderly alike have been shown to have better focus and concentration. Your attention can be focused on a task for an extended period without all sorts of thoughts and shopping lists interfering with your focus. This allows you to get more things done in a day. How wonderful is it to check off your to-do lists?

Increased intelligence

This yoga technique activates brain cells, which increases the capacity of our brain and therefore also our intelligence. School grades improve, mental abilities increase and study results are better. If there is mental retardation, Superbrain Yoga provides improvement. There have been cases where this mental retardation quickly diminished and even disappeared with regular practice.

Better memory

The area in your brain where your memory is located starts working better because of Superbrain Yoga. This is due to the activated brain cells and the improved functioning of both hemispheres. This yoga is therefore an effective technique to prevent and reduce mental aging.

Anti-stress & more balance

The physical yoga exercise you perform in Superbrain Yoga not only balances the hemispheres, but also all the energy centres – also called chakras. When the chakras are balanced, you feel calmer and more at peace. This provides psychological balance and it prevents stress.

It is a matter of experiencing it for yourself, as is true for everything in life. Still, it is nice to know what other people’s experiences are.

One of the participants in the Superbrain Yoga course, Suzanne – who has dyslexia, shares her experience:

“From my scientific training I want everything to be ‘explainable’, besides that, I am very interested in the world of energies. The Superbrain Yoga course was the best of both worlds for me. The course was very informative. At the end of the course the experiment with my “dyslexia brain” was done. First, I had to read a paragraph aloud, then I did the Superbrain Yoga exercise and finally I had to read another paragraph aloud. What happened next was very special. While my first reading session for me was very uncertain and not a fluent story, in the second reading session I felt a lot more confident, saw more clearly and read the paragraph fluently at once. It wasn’t until later in the evening and the next day that I realized how special it was. I could just read a lot better after a simple exercise. How bizarre!

I have explained Superbrain Yoga to three other people with dyslexia following the same structure of the course. Then I also had them read a piece aloud and do Superbrain Yoga and each and every one of them could read more fluently, more intelligibly and better.

Amazing that such a simple exercise can have such a big impact on your daily functioning. It makes you think; what else is possible if you use your energy in the right way?

Superbrain Yoga is for everyone from young to old.

The yoga practitioner – and also the one who doesn’t practice any yoga – can beautifully supplement this to their daily routine or class: one minute of Superbrain Yoga at the beginning (or end) of your session becomes as normal as brushing your teeth daily.
